Developing an understanding on one’s own values, cultures and beliefs helps in respecting a multicultural and diversified view of the society. What these centers would do is buy large quantities of steel from the mills, cut the large chunks up and distribute them to customers. This added value to the industry because it allowed the end user the ability to buy a quantity of steel that was more efficient for them instead of having to buy from the mills where they were required to buy larger quantities and waste was high. The only concern to end-users was the efficiency of delivery. Since the advent of Just-in-Time inventory systems, which significantly cut inventory costs to companies, the service centers had to slow inventory as well to cut down on their increasing inventory costs. Since the cut to both inventories was relatively high, but the demand for the steel was increasing it sometimes caused bumps in the road as far as efficiency of delivery. This in turn caused the mills to strike back and th ey started creating price structures that were more favorable to the end-user rather than the service centers. Competition is increasing because of the higher demand for the steel service centers. The increase in demand for steel products has also caused competition to rise. SOS has three service centers and is tops in most of there divisions which is about a 200 mile radius around each service center. SOS seems to have such a good reputation because of their friendly service and their price structure. How to Define Value in Relation to Art As an element of art, value refers to the visible lightness or darkness of a color. Value is synonymous with luminosity in this context and can be measured in various units designating electromagnetic radiation. Indeed, the science of optics  is a fascinating branch of physics, albeit one to which visual artists typically devote little to no thought. Value is relevant to the lightness or darkness of any color, but its importance is easy to visualize in a work with no colors other than black, white, and a grayscale. Why These Leaders Are Role Models Business Essay My Leadership style is delegative. My Leadership style is the same as the Laissez Faire Style. It is a leadership style in which the manager provides small or no direction and gives workers as much freedom as possible. All power is given to the workers and they must set goals, make decisions, and fix problems on their own. I suggest this leadership style for those leaders that have highly experienced staff under their leadership, because in this leadership style the manager is not always skilled on the certain job they are managing. Task-Oriented theory Another Leadership style of mine is Task-Focused. I have found that my leadership styles correct name is Task-Oriented Leadership. The Leaders that follow this style only focus on getting their certain jobs done and they sometimes can be autocratic. I have researched and found that, leaders who follow this style are good at delegating tasks, which I believe is strength for me. What I found the weak points are of this leadership style are: motivation and retention problems, leader doesnt think too much about teams well-being, and sometimes the leader acts too fast without full information. Transformational theory The Transformational leadership style is the style that I look forward to use. The main reason for it being my favourite is that my biggest leadership Role-Model (Bill Gates) applies it. I believe that he has so many great achievements that even a book can be written about them. From various universities and institutes like Harvard University and The Royal Institute of Technology, Bill Gates has received Doctorates! Because of Bill Gates and his wife doing many generous works for the welfare of the society, they received the award of Order of the Aztec Eagle in Mexico. Forbes Magazine listed his name in The Worlds Richest People from the year 1995 to 2007. I believe that the main reason that Microsoft succeeded was because of this man. A computer on every desk and Microsoft software on every computer he will continue to stomp out the competition until he dies. Every business and household must have a computer and must run Microsoft software, was the basic guiding vision of Bill Gates. Ive heard that Bill Gates found the most comfortable place where the positional power for him was high as he had most authorities in the firm. That means Bill Gates is more likely a transformational leader who wants performance from his subordinates/followers to achieve the goal/objective of the company. But Im certain that he is not only one who relies on the employees, he is one when needed who can do the employees jobs much better than them. Gates always had that smart brain for technology, as he was god gifted. He had once said that if you are gifted an extraordinary talent, then you should use it in a good way. I believe that his leadership skills have set an example for the young businessmen and businesswoman, as his tactics were so efficient that both Microsoft and Bill Gates had blown their rooftops off with money. Bill was a type of autocratic leader but he never made rash threats never used cruelty to manipulate others or to gain personal benefits. Bill Gates had the ability to influence others with something of value to them. Microsoft is well known for giving huge remuneration packages to its employees. What I consider is an important part of reward power is having control over resources, such as allocating expense budget funds. Bill Gates had full control over evaluating employees performance, determining their raises, promotions other rewards. He also kept the employees confident and positive. He showed those two skills as well. One day a reporter asked him arent you worried about the competition that is starting to show? He replied Whether its Google, Apple or free software, ou r fantastic competitors just keep us on our toes! Why these leaders are my Role Models I have chosen Steve Jobs and Bill Gates as my Role Models because; they both are or have been very successful leaders. Looking up to their success I believe that I will also be able to go very high in leadership standards. The main reason for me choosing Steve Jobs was his success with such a leadership style. I like that factor because with that leadership style only one in many succeeds. I also thought that him inventing such creations, that both kids and adults find as their needs, was something that only a special person could do, thus, I chose to study him and found his past and leadership style, inspiring, which led to him becoming my leadership role model. It is quite obvious why someone will have Bill Gates as their role model. Not only his awards but also, his past, success, popularity, personality, and leadership style was all inspiring. To be honest, he is my more favourable Role model as he is a leader who is always dedicated to his tasks and always aims to complete them to the best of his and the employees abilities. He is someone who I think every young businessman should have as their role model because he is one of the many few leaders that have gained such popularity and still stay focused on what their job is. For example a housewife can be a leader for her own home and a student can be a leader of his own group or class etc. leadership styles are different as there are democratic, charismatic, autocratic etc. (Leadership New Zealand, 2011) Here are some benchmarking qualities- Task orientated- I believe that I am very much task focused person and have the ability to finish my tasks efficiently, but to become a successful leader you have to be task oriented and task focused as well, so to my understanding this is the key Quality which I need to develop on. Confidence- All the successful leaders have a high level of confidence which, enhances their decision making power and their risk taking ability, which you have to take at some point. I believe that I have lack of confidence in myself thats why I have included this quality in my personal development benchmarking criteria. Dedication- To become a successful leader you need total dedication to your work. I have chosen this quality, as I believe that Im already a dedicated woman but, if I put a bit more dedication into my work, then I can become a very successful leader. I will know that I have achieved my goal, when I pass my Business Management course. Resources that I will need to achieve my set goals will be my personal resources (time, skill and money). Vege Oasis will give me the opportunity to work as the assistant store manager of the organisation. This position is almost certain because, the Organisation advised me that, they see lots of potential in me and can give me the position of assistant manager if I successfully handle the position of supervisor. I will need to prove that I am capable for the position by performing well, not only individually but also as a team leader. 6-12 months to prove that that I have good leadership qualities and can perform well as a leader. I will know that I have achieved my goal when the packing unit succeeds and the CEO gets impressed and promotes me to the assistant store manager. I will only need a few resources to achieve my objective, which includes: time and leadership skills. Position as the store manager of Vege Oasis. I have selected this opportunity because I will have qualifications, skills and experience. Firstly I will need to prove to the Organisation that I am capable for this role by performing efficiently as assistant manager. 1-2 years to prove myself as an efficient assistant store manager. Bondage and Escape in Sons & Lovers Essay

A major theme in â€Å"Sons & Lovers† is bondage and escape. Every major character is held hostage by another character or by their environment. Her husband, her family and her anger at the family’s social status hold Mrs. Morel hostage. She has no friends to be seen or money of her own to use. Her escape from her bondage is her death. She was unhappy her whole life and lived though another human as a source of happiness. She essentially lived her life through William and, after his death, through Paul, which in a twist of irony, by doing so she is essentially keeping them in bondage. She wants William to move to town to get a good job and a good wife to help up their social status. When he does move and bring home a woman, she thinks she has finally arrived, only to be pushed back down with his death. William, who found a good upper class woman with Lily, brings her back to his family’s home. He loves Lily, until he sees her behavior to his sister; Lily treats Annie like a servant. Although his mother likes Lily, he cannot stay with her and soon leaves her and then falls ill and dies. William’s death is his great escape from the bonds of his mother. When William dies Paul replaces him as Mrs. Morel’s dummy; Paul leads his life as his mother wants him to, she keeps him in check, approves who he dates and even goes with him and speaks for him on his first job interview. The only thing redeeming Paul in this is that he knows that he is being tied down by his mother and is fighting a silent fight against her for his whole life. Although Mrs. Morel doesn’t like Miriam, he keeps his relationship with her. Although Mrs. Morel doesn’t want Paul to stay out late, on most occasions he breaks this rule also. The only thing that ever releases Paul from Mrs. Morel’s grasp is her death. Mr. Morel’s captivity is the most literal. He is held captive by the mine; every day he must work in the mine and the harder and longer he works, the more money he makes. He is held captive by money and a blue-collar career. As a man, he ahs more options than Mrs. Morel, he can go to work, he can drink in the bar after work, he has his own money; but still the mine is always there, calling him back with the lore of making more money next week. Miriam is held captive by Paul and by her own lofty hopes and dreams. Paul strings her along in their relationship, with no future for them in the relationship. This lack of future for them may be based on Mrs. Morel’s dislike of Miriam and by Paul’s willingness to always please Mrs. Morel above him. Miriam is also held captive by her own dreams; she envisions herself as a princess, not as the wife of an office clerk. She has aspirations that are unattainable, and therefore is kept down by her own refusal to settle with Paul. Clara is held captive also, but for the opposite reason that Miriam is: Clara is levelheaded and stable and supporting herself with a job. She is too levelheaded though and will not allow herself to fall too much in love with Paul. She in the end seems to only head further into captivity, by going back with her abusive husband. In conclusion, everyone of the major character is held in bondage and not all are able to make an escape from their bonds.

Film Analysis La Cabeza Mato A Todos ( The Head Killed...

When arriving to this exhibition I was excited to try and understand the story behind each piece of art. When first entering the exhibition I was shrouded in darkness with only the voices of the people in the videos to keep me company. The first thing that caught my eye was the videos playing in front of me and the ones I could hear playing in the distance I was overwhelmed for a second because it felt like I was taking too much in, but I got myself together and sat down for the first video. The name of the short film is La cabeza mato a todos (the head killed everyone). The video begins with a woman in a hammock holding a black cat and she begins to speak about magic and wars. This legend being talked at all is an example of how traditions can be kept, but changed overtime. The cave is a representation of the old taino traditions long lost to colonization, but it is now being used as an origin story by the people around the area so much so that the children already know the legend and will probably pass it on to their own children thus keeping this cave and what it means alive. After finishing this video and thought I was again sucked into the next film/video. The video was playing various films right after each other; Matrulla, Nocturno, Esto es un mensaje explosive, and Marche Salomon. Matrulla has to do with a man named Pablo Cuadrado and his journey to a more natural life. He seems to be preparing harder times ahead so he is trying his best to grow all different kinds of plants and raise his own animals. Pablo has all kinds of things growing, from plants used for abortions to regular food and raises animals like chickens. He spends most of his day taking care of his home and collecting things that might be useful to him. I wake up and think I am in our old house in the in the farm lands. The sun is beaming through the window from rolling, green hills outside, and I can smell my mom’s cooking of watery beans and potatoes wafting through the house. Soon the day will begin, a long day, of weaving and mending cloth. When the machines came, we were no longer fast enough for the demands of cloth. We were forced to move to the city and work in a factory, where we tend machines all day long until the day is over, and with our very bones crying , we hurry to bed. Then, dinging the bells ring at 4:00 AM to wake up the working class of the city.I can hear the bells now and I must get up. I’m so sorry for not introducing myself properly, my name is Edward. I am almost fifteen and work at a factory in the city. They call me the man of the house because my father is very ill. Next to me, on the pile of straw we share, are my younger brother, Tommy, my other younger sister, Jeanette, and my moth er, Elizabeth.
